JBAM Access Control for Joomla and Mambo

What is JBAM?

This system was originally designed to give the Primary Site Administrator the ability to lock-down the access rights of all individuals who need to perform tasks related to the maintenance of a site. The abilities of this component have been greatly enlarged to encompass activities of the Frontend of a site as well. JBAM does NOT replace the ACL system which is built-in to Joomla or Mambo, it supplements it. That is JBAM provides the ability to put finer controls on any user of a site. To accomplish this several 'core' files of the Joomla installation have had to be modified. It is important that the installation process follow a strict set of steps. The BackEnd activities which have been brought under further control are:

* Installation of Components, Modules, Mambots, Templates, and Language Files (CMTs)
* Maintenance of the CMTs
* Creation of Content Sections, Categories, and Items
* Modification of Menus
* Modification of the Site's configuration file
* Creating or maintaining Users

This System provides protection by various methods including:
* Creation of any number of User/Membership Groups
* Assignment of users to one or more membership groups
* Assignment of Access to various CMTs, Administrative Menu items, and Content Sections
* The ability to lock CMTs so that they may not be uninstalled by just any Super Admin.
* The ability to block backend access to any administrator.

JBAM is a sophisticated tool that replaces (and saves the originals of) some 50 'core' files of your Mambo or Joomla site. It is important that all instructions are followed in order for you to have trouble-free use of JBAM, so please ensure you read the documentation listed above.

JBAM Announcements

JBAM is no longer developed for Joomla!

Recently within the Joomla community, the team and forum users have been discussing bans on commercial and/or encrypted third party applications and methods for implementing financial levies on those developers who sell extensions. As a result of the change in policy for the Joomla forge (see notice below), and these new developments, we are no longer interested in developing extensions for the Joomla CMS.
The JBAM for Joomla source code is for sale. If you are interested in taking over the development of JBAM or wish to purchase it to release as an open source extension for the Joomla community, please contact us.

Distribution of JBAM Suspended!

Due to changes made by the good folks at Joomla, The JBAM Demo is no longer available for download from the Joomla Forge. I am looking into alternative resources to accommodate the Demo files. Hopefully an answer will occur soon.
